Stepping off her boat Sunlover on Sunday evening, the 62-year-old Nyad said cutting short the swim after 40 hours and multiple Portuguese man o'war stings was "such a bitter pill."
She went on to say, "I am so capable of that swim. That's the end, though."
Nyad quit her swim Sunday morning after swimming past sharks, barracudas and smacks of men o'war in the waters between Cuba and the Florida Keys. She said she could have fought through bad weather or medical problems, but her medics said more stings from the venomous creatures might have killed her.
